Production overview

While Marvel'south X-Men: The Blithe Series was being produced by Saban, Spider-Man was produced past the newly formed Curiosity Films Animation; it was the only series that in-house studio produced, but was animated by Tokyo Flick Shinsha with Korean studios. The serial is the second longest-running Marvel prove created, afterward X-Men, besides every bit the longest-running series based on Spider-Human. Information technology is currently endemic and distributed by The Walt Disney Company, which acquired all Fox Kids-related properties from News Corporation and Saban International in 2001.

Development and social issues

Avi Arad was the executive producer of the show. 1 of the obligations of working with Fox was to make the evidence educational by introducing resolvable, child-appropriate social issues. Semper said he believed Spider-Man to be peculiarly good for this because the show takes place in existent world New York making it able to tackle problems "closer to home".

Examples of social issues dealt with in the series, include peace between waring nations ("Day of the Chameleon"), cults ("Sins of the Begetter"), the Make A Wish Foundation ("Sins of the Father"), the value of teaching and the evils of street gangs ("Sins of the Father five: Rocket Racer", "Sins of the Male parent 9: Tombstone"), legal rights ("Sins of the Father 6: Framed"), drug addiction ("Partners in Danger (8): The Return of the Light-green Goblin") and the dangers of obsessive or stalking boyfriends ("Hydro-Man").

Blitheness

Concept fine art for Spider-Man.To reproduce the New York'due south manner background illustrators undertook a large amount of visual research, using photo athenaeum from above New York, especially rooftops. Maps were consulted for references and buildings were faithfully reproduced.

It has been reported that the blitheness cells depicting Manhattan's Pan Am Building were scrapped after beingness complete considering the California-based art staff learned the Midtown landmark had been given a new sign more than a yr earlier.

The animation staff were directed to populate the urban center with cars and crowds on the street level. Semper believed that was 1 of the limitations of earlier Spider-Man animated projects.

Originally, Curiosity Films planned to make the backgrounds completely CGI while Spider-Human 'webslinged' around New York, all the same due to budget constraints were forced to employ traditional cel based blitheness while occasionally using CGI backgrounds. As well, reuse of animation became more common as the serial progressed, which also included reuse of animation involving a character speaking (these scenes were sometimes slowed downwards in lodge to better lucifer the role player's voice to the animation).
